Overview: In recent times there has been a tremendous increase in the interest surrounding the concept of Agro tourism, and Sri Lanka is no exception. Sri Lanka 's complex paddy cultivation systems (developed over the course of 2500 years), huge ancient irrigational tanks and many tea and rubber plantations are just some examples of its diverse agricultural developments and agro tourism will be catering to a niche market of agro tourists.



DAY 1:  ARRIVE / DAMBULLA

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International airport, you will be warmly greeted by your very own guide and transferred to Dambulla (Approx. 4 hrs drive). On arrival in the hotel, spend the day at leisure relaxing and enjoying the hotel facilities. 


Spend overnight at Heritage Dambulla. Accommodation is in Standard rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on Half Board Basis 

DAY 2 :  DAMBULLA / SIGIRIYA / DAMBULLA

After a leisurely breakfast you can proceed to CIC Farm located in Pelvehera


You can experience Mango Germ Plasm Collection, Agri Technology Part, Agribusiness Centre, Juiceez, Planting Material Display Centre, Desert Plant Greenhouse, Green House Cultivation, Herbal garden, Commercial Vegetable garden, Fruit Garden Banana Mother Plant Orchard, Mango Mother Plant Orchard and the Citrus Garden among  many other agricultural attractions with a guide lecturer from the Farm. 


Spend the afternoon visiting the spectacular Sigiriya rock fortress (15 minutes/5 km), with its rocky abode & water gardens.  Sigiriya is famous for its toadstool of golden-hued granite, protruding into the searing blue sky from a hot, flat wilderness of scrubland, which is transformed in the rainy season to a water garden. In the 5th century King Kashyapa domesticated the Lions Rock, by building a palace atop its summit. Sigiriya commemorates some of the turbulence of Sri Lanka’s history.

DAY 3 : DAMBULLA / HABARANA / HINGURAKGODA

After a leisurely breakfast you will be transferred to Hiriwaduna. HIRIWADUNNA is just 30 minutes drive from  Dambulla. Trek through the archetypal Sri Lankan Typical village. The trek begins with an awesome walk along a bund of a Wewa or manmade reservoir. The reservoir itself, the surrounding scrub jungle, marshland and village are a hive of early morning or an evening activity. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake. Experience a Sri Lankan Lunch at a village house.  

 

Drive to Hingurakgoda and check in at Windsor Park Hotel.In the afternoon, you can proceed with a tour in the farm. This tour includes Mango cultivation, Vegetable Garden, Machinery Yard, Seed Processing Unit, Banana Cultivation, Plant Nursery, Home Garden, Compost Production,  Livestock Production and many other agricultural attractions.

DAY 4 : HINGURAKGODA / KANDY

After a leisurely breakfast you can participate to an informative presentation on agriculture in Sri Lanka, conducted by an expert in agriculture at CIC farm.


On completion of the presentation, you will be driven to Kandy (approx. 3 ½ hrs). En route you can visit a Spice garden. Sri Lanka is famous for its spices and spices gardens. These spice gardens offers tourists memorable visits to various spice plantations in Sri Lanka. During early historical times Sri Lanka known as Taprobane, was world renowed for its Quality Spices. During ancient times the Greeks, Romans and the Arabic maintained their links with Sri Lanka through the spice trade. Spice Gardens in the hill capital Kandy and at Matale and Mawanella give interesting insights into spice production in Sri Lanka


Arrive in Kandy and check in at Hill top Hotel.


In the afternoon, visit Gannoruwa Agriculture Technology Parks to learn the latest technology of agriculture. From the beginning, the orientation of the park remained so strongly focused on the quick information dissemination mechanism for farmers, School children and General public. Also it is place to see and learn latest recommendations of crop cultivation and technologies generated by both public (government departments and  universities) and private institutions. It gives not only education & training mechanism but also aesthetically beautiful edible landscaping with tropical crops. 

 

In the evening you can visit Temple of Tooth in Kandy. Located in Kandy, long a center of the Buddhist faith, the stunning 17th-century Temple of the Tooth is believed to house the left upper canine tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. This precious relic attracts white-clad pilgrims, bearing lotus blossoms and frangipani, every day.

DAY 5 : KANDY / AMBEWELA

Today after breakfast you will drive to Ambewela and check in at Mount View Cottage.


In the afternoon you can proceed with the farm tour in time for demonstration of how milk is taken from the  cow by an electronic machine. This happen at 12:30 PM of every day.  You can also visit  Cheese factory, Goat yard and thousands of animals can be seen in Ambewela farms. Largest grass lands of Sri Lanka also a part of Ambewela farms. There is a two farms at Ambewela and those are called New Zealand farm and Ambewela farms. You can experience the farm with Rabbits, Cattles, Cows, Pigs, Goats and grass lands, vegetable farm, seed potatoes producing center and nice reservoir in Ambewela farm. 


Spend overnight at Mount View Cottage. Accommodation is in Standard rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on Half Board Basis 

DAY 6 : AMBEWELA / NEGOMBO

Today after breakfast you can proceed with a visit to Kande Ela Forest Garden.


Kande Ela Forest Garden is located adjoining the Kande Ela Lake. The Forest Department maintains the Kande Ela Forest Garden for educational purposes. Their is a nature trail through the forest with many number of examples for Soil conservation methods, Types of plants, Environment pollution, Traditional culture. The nature trail is approximately 5 Kilometers and takes about one hour to complete.On completion of this excursion, you can drive to Negombo (approx. 6hrs

 

Spend overnight at Goldi Sands Hotel. Accommodation is in Standard rooms with ensuite facilities. Your stay is on Half Board Basis 

DAY 7 :  NEGOMBO / AIRPORT

After a leisurely breakfast you will be driven to Airport for departure (Approx.30 mins drive)
